Fitness Circle
Will my chances of getting into Harvard’s MBA program be diminished by my race?
For the last four years..
I have a 3.94 cumulative GPA (the lowest grade I have ever received was an A-), I’m majoring in both accounting and financial economics, I scored 740 on the GMAT, I have been a Resident Adviser for the last two years, interned for two separate accounting firms over the last three summers, am an honors program peer mentor, am active in a social greek organization/fraternity, lead two fitness courses at my student rec center on a weekly basis (Ab Attack and Plyometrics) and I am in Circle K – a community service organization. And as you can tell, I don’t sleep much lol. This all sounds good on paper, but my mom tells me not to get my hopes up because I am half asian/half white, and apparently my asian blood will prevent me from getting in. I am only applying to Harvard, so basically I have two questions. Will my ethnicity diminish my chance of getting into Harvard? And what other graduate schools should I consider to get my MBA? Thanks!
If anything, your race will help you. Colleges are required by federal law to have a diverse student body; they can’t just go out and get the All-American WASP to fill out their student body. So yeah, being half-Asian definitely gives you somewhat of a leg-up on the competition
